International Women's Day

Friday the 8th of March saw the celebrations of International Women's Day and the Lady Cafe Group in Clones Library were delighted to organise a number of events with Monaghan Integrated Development to celebrate this wonderful occassion.  This day has been celebrated since 1911 and its aim is to inspire women and celebrate achievements. We were delighed to be joined on this day by Mamo MacDonald who shared the lessons she has learned from life. Mamo brought us through the many changes that women have faced in Irish Society over the past few decades from having to give up work upon getting married to campaigning for better conditions for families and children. We were all left truely inspired by Mamo's work with many various society's and groups, her stories of travel to far flung places and her returning to education to receive her Master in Women's Studies.

The afternoon saw this group of ladies also take part in a Colour Analysis Workshop with Catherine McGregor. There was great fun while the ladies discovered what shades and styles suited them.
